It is very thoroughly clean already right out of your package. I did not even clean it. I just boiled with salt and vinegar then air fried. No bad scent or taste.This is certainly my second purchase. I just been given the order and haven't experimented with it yet. Nevertheless the product appears to be like dark and bruised, in all probability not
